5 Fabulous Essential Oils That Remove Dandruff

Dandruff is not a very serious condition, but it can be annoying and contagious. If you are affected by dandruff, you will understand just how much of a nuisance it can be to your beauty and personal hygiene. Various chemical and natural treatments promise to help you get rid of dandruff. Essential oils are an excellent organic treatment option to get rid of dandruff, leaving your hair healthy and clean.

A few filler drops of one or more of these essential oils will help your hair and scalp to be free of dandruff.

1. Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is an excellent antibacterial and antifungal essential oil that you can use to battle dandruff. Besides dandruff, tea tree oil is used to treat other scalp infections too. Massage your scalp with a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with another base oil like olive oil or coconut oil. Soak your hair with this oil concoction for at least 30 minutes and shampoo your hair. Warm oil can have a better effect. It would be best if you use this treatment at least twice a week, and you will notice a visible reduction in dandruff within the first few weeks itself. Once the dandruff is eliminated, continue using tea tree oil at least once every week so that dandruff does not recur.

2. Peppermint oil
Peppermint oil is an anti-inflammatory oil and is highly known for its antiseptic properties, which help to heal and soothe itchy scalps. If your dandruff is because of an oily scalp, this oil is the best choice as it absorbs excess oil in the scalp. Mix a few filler drops of peppermint essential oil with your hair oil, massage it to your scalp, and wash with shampoo. If you do not like to oil your hair, another alternative is to add a few drops of peppermint oil to your shampoo.

3. Thyme essential oil
Thyme oil is a pale yellow-colored oil that has a sweet and herbaceous aroma. It increases blood circulation and improves hair condition and texture, as well as is helpful in the treatment of stubborn dandruff and scalp infections.

4. Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil has antimicrobial, astringent, and cleansing properties, making it one of the best oils for hair care. Rosemary oil promotes hair growth too. The oil is one of the most pleasant-smelling essential oils, making it ideal and refreshing for hair care. It can reduce fungal infections in the scalp. You can use this oil regularly, even after dandruff is removed.

5. Cedarwood oil
Cedarwood oil has an earthy and woody smell like a rainy day in the woods. The oil has anti-inflammatory properties and is excellent to soothe a dry scalp. Cedarwood oil can be used to massage the scalp and treat dandruff if your dandruff is due to a dry scalp.

Before application, use a carrier oil like coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, or Argan oil to dilute essential oils. Do not heat the essential oil. If you need warm oil for a scalp massage, heat the carrier oil and add the essential oil to it.
