Tips to Create the Perfect Winged Eyeliner
When you start experimenting with eyeliner products, you might initially struggle with drawing a decent line. We’ve all been there, and it takes time to perfect a smooth wing. One can follow some tricks and tips to get an effortless winged eye. You can follow these tips and explore different methods to create a defined and sharp eye.
1. Start with small strokes
We all dream to get the perfect wing with one stroke, and at times, big long strokes might not give you a desirable result. When you use your eyeliner and start with minor strokes, it gives you more control over how thick or thin the wing should be. Single strokes can be messy without practice. You should also take the length of the tip, the pigment and the shape of the packaging into consideration, as these can make or break your look.
2. Create a base for your eye makeup
To create a perfect wing with the eyeliner of your choice, be it a liquid or felt-tip liner, you should do a basic prep. You can use a concealer under your eyes and an eyeshadow primer for your eyelids to create a smooth surface surrounding the eyes. After this, use an eyeliner of your choice to define your eyes better. This becomes easier as you now have an even base. Sometimes, you can even curl your lashes before you use eyeliner.
3. Use a black eyeshadow for outline
Using a liquid eyeliner, you can experiment with black eyeshadow to get an ideal winged eye. Before you apply the eyeliner, you can take a black powdered eyeshadow and a thin application brush to trace the outline for the eyeliner. After this, take your eyeliner and apply it over the outline. It can be helpful, especially if you are a beginner with eye makeup, and the eyeshadow will be an excellent guide in getting clear-winged eyes.
4. Blink once in a while
One main deterrent to getting a perfect winged look is involuntarily blinking that can affect your application. Random blinking while applying eyeliner can cause smudging and can even be a source of irritation. So, make sure you take small breaks in between to blink, which will reduce the involuntary blinking. This is a simple but handy tip that will be helpful when you are struggling with eye makeup.
5. Use cello tape for an angled edge
It might come to one’s surprise as to how many non-makeup products come in handy while applying makeup. For instance, your regular cello tape can create a defined and angled edge. You can take a tape and cut it up to 2-3 cm and gently stick it on the outer eye at an angle you desire the wing to be. It can be a guide, and the eyeliner can follow the tape to outline the wing. Then you can do a double coat and extend the wing to your upper lash.
